Additionally, they may prescribe antibiotics in case of unexpected infections. Tetanus shots are a must when traveling, whether you step on a nail or get bitten by a dog. Always research rabies statistics and prevention measures at your travel destination.

Your skin is your largest organ and needs good protection. There are a variety of SPF clothing and hats to choose from. It’s also practical to have clothes that are moisture-wicking, temperature-regulating, and wrinkle-free, such as bamboo and merino wool. Also, it’s best to buy your shoes early so you can wear them and break them in before your trip. I always ask myself beforehand, what kind of shoes are needed for all activities and trips?

I fell and broke my arm in Nepal, capsized and hit rocks while drifting in Costa Rica, and was bitten by a dog in the Marshall Islands. These unfortunate situations taught me valuable lessons and expanded my first aid kit with tips that cover all the bases.
