It’s easy to make, easy to eat, and always a crowd favorite. Here’s a simple no-fail recipe for our favorite Cheesy Garlic Party Bread.

This Easy Cheesy Garlic Party Bread is always a hit
- 1 bread crusty, dense bread like sourdough (A round or oval shape works best)
- 1 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella or mixed cheese (If you like to mix it up for extra texture, use melted cheese)
- 150 gram salted butter (1 1/2 sticks) (Softened at room temperature)
- 3 large sizes clove fresh garlic (mashed into paste or minced)
- 2 spoon Fresh Italian Flat Leaf Parsley (chop and set aside)
-
1. Preheat oven to 180C/350F
-
2. Add the mashed/chopped garlic to the softened butter and mix well
-
3. Cut the loaf diagonally about 1 inch apart so that the diagonal cuts form the loaf’s diamond shape. Do not cut the bread completely, keep the bottom crust intact
-
4. Separate each diamond shape of bread and brush each side of each diamond shape with garlic butter. Although it is a little time consuming, it will be worth it when you see the results! Reserve a little garlic butter and brush it on top at the end.
-
5. Stuff each crevice with shredded cheese. Don’t worry about neatness. The bits left on top may get a little crispy and add even more delicious flavor.
-
6. Brush a little more garlic butter on top of the bread.
-
7. Scatter chopped fresh parsley over the top and between some cracks if you like.
-
8. Wrap the bread with foil and bake in the middle rack of the oven for 20 minutes.
-
9. Open the foil and bake for another 5 – 10 minutes, until all the cheese is completely melted and the top is sparkling.
-
10. Enjoy now!
- The amount of butter, garlic, and cheese you use depends slightly on the size and shape of the bread you’re using. These are basic quantities, so feel free to adjust to ensure the right quantities for your specific loaf.
- If you don’t want to wait for the butter to soften enough to spread easily, you can also melt it. Just be sure not to saturate some parts of the bread and miss out on others. The key to successful bread is an even distribution of ingredients.
This cheesy garlic party bread isn’t just for parties, either! It makes a great appetizer or even a side dish for your next family gathering. Or, use it as a snack for your next movie or game night.
