How does it work and is it worth it? (2026)

If you’re researching how to skip the line at Legoland California, you may have come across references to reservations and rides. Legoland is replacing the system with Fastrack ride lane On February 1, 2026, it works completely differently.

I’m glad they made the switch. Booking and riding a ride is a virtual queue that requires you to open the app, select a ride, wait for a countdown, and then return to the ride at a designated time. This confuses many guests, and I’ve heard many families say it’s frustrating (and expensive). Fastrack is even simpler: You buy it, get a barcode, and then walk up to the dedicated entrance when you’re ready.

The problem is, it’s purchased separately from park admission and is sold per person per day. Therefore, you need to know what is included before purchasing. That’s what this guide is for, and I’ll update it as my team and clients continue to use it.

If you haven’t purchased your tickets yet, start with my guide Legoland California Discount Tickets So you don’t have to pay an entrance fee.

What is LEGOLAND Fastrack?

Fastrack is a skip-the-line pass to Legoland California. Instead of waiting in the regular queue, you can simply walk up to the individual Fastrack entrance for eligible rides, show your barcode to a group member and you’re in.

There are no time slots, no in-app booking, and no countdown timers. This is a major improvement over Booking and Riding, which requires you to book a specific ride through the app, wait for a virtual queue time countdown, and then return to the ride to scan a QR code. Many families tell me they spend more time managing the app than enjoying the park.

Here are a few things you need to know before buying:

  • Fastrack does not include park admission. This is an add-on.
  • It’s also non-refundable and tied to specific dates, so make sure you plan before purchasing.

How Fastrack works

After purchasing Fastrack (online or in the park) you will receive a barcode or printed pass on your phone. When you’re ready to ride, head to the Fastrack entrance, let them scan your barcode, and then go through the shorter queue.

There’s a five-minute cooldown between rides, meaning you’ll need to wait five minutes after completing one before scanning for the next. This is mainly to prevent people from riding the same thing over and over again.

If you have a bronze or silver medal (a level with a certain number of rides), each scan will count toward your total. Once you’ve used them, you’re done. Gold is unlimited, so you don’t need to worry about keeping track of your amount.

One more thing: You can upgrade from Bronze or Silver to Gold at The Beginning’s customer service desk, subject to availability. So if you start at Bronze level and realize you want more, you have this option.

Fastrack tiers and pricing

Legoland California offers three Fastrack levels as well as a one-way option.

Bronze Medal: USD 20 per person

The Bronze Fastrack includes 3 rides across 15 qualifying attractions. If you want to skip the lines on two or three of the most popular rides without paying a ton of extra money, this is a solid entry point. I think this level makes sense for most families on a moderately busy day.

Eligible rides(15): Coastal Cruise, Duplo Trail, Driving School, Emmett’s Flying Adventure, Explore the River, Junior Driving School, Kids Power Tower, LEGO City: Deep Sea Adventures, LEGO Ninjago: The Ride, Lost Kingdom Adventure, Pirate Reef, Queen Waterfla’s Carousel, Captain’s School, Dragon and Unikitty Disco Landing.

Silver: $38 per person

Silver Fastrack includes 6 rides across 17 qualifying attractions. You have access to the same list of rides as Gold (including the Coastersaurus and LEGO Technic Coaster, which are not available in Bronze), but the total number of rides in a day is capped at 6. If your kids are tall enough to ride these coasters and you don’t expect to need more than six Fastrack rides, then I would recommend this level.

Eligible rides(17): Everything is bronze, plus Coastersaurus and LEGO Mechanic coasters.

Gold: USD 89 per person

Gold Fastrack offers unlimited rides at all 17 eligible attractions throughout the day, with a 5-minute cooldown period between rides. The ride list is the same as Silver. The difference is that you’re not limited to six rides, so you can use Fastrack as many times as you want. This is a considerable investment, especially for a home. A family of four pays $356 before entering the park, so I’d book this level during the busiest days of the year because there are long waits for each ride and you know you’ll be using it more than half a dozen times.

Eligible rides(17): Unlimited access to the same attractions as the Silver Medal.

One Shot: Prices vary

One Shots are one-way Fastrack passes for individual attractions, only available through the LEGOLAND app on the day of your visit. I like having them as a fallback option. If you’re already in the park and there’s a 45-minute wait to see “The Dragon,” you can purchase a One Shot for that ride instead of purchasing the full package.

What’s not included in Fastrack

This is important and I don’t think Legoland makes it obvious enough on their website.

All three rides in the new LEGO Galaxy Park (opening March 6, 2026) are not included in every Fastrack level, including Gold.

Galaxy Coaster It’s the one everyone wants to ride. This is the first new roller coaster at Legoland in more than 20 years. This is an indoor family coaster where you can customize your digital spacecraft before launch and reach speeds of up to 40 mph. Groups ride in groups of four. Height requirement is 36 inches (48 inches when riding without an adult).

Gravity testing equipment It is a rotating amusement ride that simulates astronaut training. Height requirement is 40 inches.

DUPLO launch and landing A gentle ride for young children.

None of these rides have Fastrack access at launch. The only way to ride them is Standby queue. If you’re going after March 6, plan to head to LEGO Galaxy first when the park opens. I expect the queues will be huge for at least the first few months. mine Complete Guide to Legoland California There are more tips for maximizing your day.

Is Fastrack worth it?

It all depends on the time of your visit.

You probably won’t need it on weekdays during the off-season (roughly from September to mid-March, excluding holidays). Most rides have wait times of less than 15 minutes, and many require walking. I wouldn’t have spent the money on those days. examine Legoland California Calendar Know the crowds to expect before you visit.

The same cannot be said for peak weekends, during spring break, or throughout the summer. On popular rides, wait times can stretch to 45 minutes or more, and if your kids aren’t good at waiting in long lines, the Fastrack can really save your day. This is also worth considering in the first few months after LEGO Galaxy opens, when crowd patterns across the park may change.

For most families visiting on a busy day, I think the $20 per person bronze is a reasonable investment. Three rides are enough to visit the most popular attractions like The Dragon and LEGO NINJAGO: The Ride. If your kids want the Coastersaurus and Technic Coaster, the silver price of $38 is reasonable, as those products tend to draw longer lines. Unless you’re visiting during one of the busiest days of the year, the gold price of $89 per person is hard to justify.

Keep in mind that Fatrack only covers major theme parks. It does not apply to rides in the following areas Legoland water park.

Fastrack vs. Reserve & Ride: What’s changed

If you’ve been to Legoland before and used Reserve & Ride, here’s what’s different.

The old Reserve N Ride sign in front of Lost Kingdom Adventure at Legoland California.
Old Reserve N Ride sign

Reservations and rides are a virtual queue. You purchase a tier (Express, Deluxe or Ultimate, priced from $35 to $100), open the LEGOLAND app, select a ride and reserve a slot. A countdown timer appears, and when it reaches zero, you return to the ride and scan the QR code to enter.

The concept is great, but the execution is clunky. If too many people book, time slots can close without warning, the app isn’t always reliable, and you can’t walk to a ride when your family wants to.

Fastrack ditches all that. There is no app interaction after purchase, no period, and no countdown. When your family is ready and you show your barcode, you can walk to the Fastrack entrance. It’s more like something you’d see at other major theme parks.

Pricing has also changed. Reserve & Ride starts at $35 per person, while Fastrack starts at $20, so admission is lower. The top-tier version is also slightly cheaper ($89, compared to $100 for the Reserve & Ride Ultimate). The grades themselves are now called Bronze, Silver and Gold instead of Fast, Deluxe and Ultimate.

How to buy Fastrack

You can purchase Fastrack in advance via Legoland California Fastrack Page Or the park you visit for the day. If you purchase park tickets as well, you can add Fastrack at checkout Legoland ticket page.

One Shots (one-way passes) are only available through the LEGOLAND app on the day of your visit.

I recommend purchasing as far in advance as possible. Fastrack sales are limited and may sell out during peak periods.

Fastrack usage tips

Reserve your Fastrack rides for the busiest times of the day. If you have a bronze or silver medal, don’t use your rides first thing in the morning when lines are shorter. Arrive at the park opening and enjoy some of the popular rides with shorter wait times, then hit the Fastrack ride when queues peak from 11am to 2pm.

Prioritize the right rides. Dragons and LEGO Ninjago: Coaster have always had the longest wait times. If you have limited rides, I would use these first.

Remember the five-minute cooldown period. You can’t finish one ride and immediately scan to the next. Plan to have a snack or use the bathroom in between.

Each person on the team needs their own pass. Fastrack is calculated per person, so please factor the full cost of the household into your budget. For a Bronze-level family of four, the price is $80. Gold price is $356.

Staying at the Legoland Hotel or Legoland Castle Hotel? Hotel guests have early access to the park, so you can get a head start on popular rides before the public arrives. Combine this with Fastrack and you’ll cover a lot of ground. i have a guide Hotels near Legoland California If you are still deciding where to live.
