Anjou Sparkling Wine – Loire Sparkling Wine

Anjou sparkling wine from Authentic Food Quest
Fine bubbles, bright acidity and subtle floral aromas

Loire Crémant is the region’s sparkling wine, made using the same traditional methods as Champagne.

Typically made from Chenin Blanc, it has fine bubbles, bright acidity, and subtle floral and honey aromas.

When we visited the local Crémant producer, he told us that in the past Loire Valley grapes were sometimes sent to Champagne for the production of sparkling wine. We were very surprised to learn this, but the quality of the glass reflects that.

Part of what makes Loire sparkling wine so unique is where it’s produced. Many producers age their wines in caves carved directly into the region’s soft limestone cliffs.

Walking through these cool, quiet, dimly lit cellars that have been in use for centuries is an experience in itself. During our culinary immersion holiday in the Loire Valley we visit one of the region’s top producers. We will explore the historic wine cellar 12 feet underground (4 levels) and discover this unique heritage.

In Angers, sparkling wine is often served before a meal or during a celebration. This is a great sparkling wine at a fraction of the price of Champagne. Once you try it, it’s hard to go back and pay champagne prices.
