You may have had tiramisu, but have you tried strawberry tiramisu? It’s a fruity take on the classic Italian dessert, kind of like a no-bake biscotti. Strawberry Tiramisu is perfect for Florida strawberry season or summer. This is an easy dessert perfect for potlucks and parties. We’ve got some extra variations and tips for you below, but if you’re ready to jump right into it, just hit the “Jump to Recipe” button.

What does tiramisu mean?
name”Tiramisu“” literally means “brighten me up” or “brighten me up” in Italian. As a dessert made from ladyfingers, often soaked in espresso or, as in this strawberry tiramisu recipe below, liqueur, it’s meant to “pick you up” after a meal.
There is a legend that a restaurant near Venice called El Toula created tiramisu to cheer up its customers. I’m not sure if that’s true, but I do know that this strawberry tiramisu is sure to make me smile.

Strawberry Tiramisu
Strawberry tiramisu is kind of like a no-bake cake or an icebox cake. Rather than using espresso like traditional tiramisu, it’s made with ladyfingers dipped in macerated strawberry jam and sweet strawberry cream liqueur. Then place the soaked fingers into a square baking pan and layer with sweet tiramisu cream and sliced strawberries.
Ingredients for strawberry jam
For strawberry dip, you will need the following ingredients.
Fresh strawberries: This strawberry tiramisu is perfect for strawberry season since there are tons of fresh strawberries in the stores. You’ll need two cups total, one cup roughly chopped for the strawberry jam and one cup thinly sliced to hold between your fingers.
lemon juice: A squeeze of lemon juice is subtle Flavor enhancer Strawberry puree. It balances the sweetness and brightens the overall flavor.
granulated sugar: Mix granulated sugar with lemon juice into the strawberry puree to create a thicker texture, similar to the beginning of jam. It also adds a hint of sweetness to the strawberry tiramisu.
Ladies fingers: Ladyfingers are elongated biscuits. They’re not too sweet and are usually as hard as shortbread, so they’re perfect for dunking in a cup of coffee. Sometimes you’ll also find larger, freshly baked finger cookies in some bakeries. These were a bit too soft for a tiramisu recipe. You’ll want to use finger cookies that are as firm as crackers.
liquor: For this strawberry tiramisu recipe, I used Baileys Strawberries + Cream. It’s kind of like strawberry Irish cream, with a gorgeous pink color and a wonderful strawberry flavor, and a little kick. But if you don’t have this particular Bailey’s on hand, you can also use other liqueurs. Try a flavor that matches the flavor of strawberry. I recommend Godiva’s white chocolate liqueur, or the almond-flavored Frangelico liqueur.

Ingredients for tiramisu cream
Tiramisu cream is usually made from mascarpone cheese, whipped cream and sugar. Traditional tiramisu sometimes also adds egg yolks. However, the strawberry tiramisu recipe below does not contain eggs. To make the cream, whisk together the following ingredients into a fluffy, slightly sweet cream.
Mascarpone cheese: Mascarpone (pronounced mah-scar-poh-nay) is a soft Italian cheese similar to American cream cheese. You can usually find specialty (aka fancy) cheeses in the deli department of your grocery store. Look for it in the tub as it is a spreadable cheese. The flavor is light and slightly sweet, which is why it is traditionally used in making tiramisu.
Light cream: Whipped cream gives creamy mascarpone a fluffier texture.
Candy Candies: Confectioners’ sugar (also called powdered sugar) is dissolved and mixed into the whipped cream and mascarpone cheese, adding sweetness without the gritty texture.

Strawberry Tiramisu Recipe – Step by Step
Measure out the ingredients listed above (full recipe card included, printable below.) Wash the strawberries and pat dry with a pat towel. Then, use a paring knife to remove the top green leaves and stems. Divide strawberries into two individual cups. Roughly chop a cup of strawberries and puree in a blender. Slice the second cup of strawberries and add to the strawberry tiramisu.
Tip: When slicing strawberries, the middle is shaped best for layering onto strawberry tiramisu. Use the sliced ends in the puree.

Next, place a cup of chopped strawberries, lemon juice, and sugar into a blender or food processor and blend until smooth.

Next, add the strawberry liqueur. Then pour into a large shallow bowl for dipping the finger cakes.

Prepare cream in another bowl. Using a hand or stand mixer, beat together the mascarpone cheese, whipped cream, and powdered sugar until stiff peaks form. Set aside.

Dip each finger cookie into the strawberry puree and spread into the bottom of an 8×8 or 9×9 ungreased baking pan. You may need to cut or tear some of your fingers to get them to fit. You usually need 7-9 cookies per layer.

After placing the first layer of ladyfingers in the bottom of the pan, carefully spread the mascarpone cream mixture over the ladyfingers. Then add a layer of strawberry slices.

Repeat the previous step and dip the ladyfingers in the strawberry liqueur puree, then top them with cream and sliced strawberries. There should be at least two layers of ladyfingers, but you can layer more depending on the depth of the dish.
