Royal Caribbean’s 5,668-passenger Utopia of the Seas has been dealing with mechanical issues, delaying its July 20 sailing. Port Canaveral, Florida.
The ship was scheduled to depart its popular homeport around 4:00 p.m. on Monday and dock at Perfect Day, the cruise line’s private island at CocoCay, on July 21, Nassau the next day on July 22, and return to Port Canaveral on July 24 to conclude the four-night Bahamas voyage.
Ocean Utopia Never left as expected and has been stranded at the dock at Port Canaveral. Guests were informed that the vessel was experiencing mechanical issues.
The Oasis-class cruise ship may finally depart around 5:00 a.m. on July 21, according to some passengers on board. However, the cruise ship tracker showed that the cruise ship departed after 7:00 am.

Due to the delayed departure time, Ocean Utopia‘A short 4 night break has been adapted. On the first day, July 21st, we no longer sailed to Coco Island but spent the day at sea. Nassau became the first port of call on July 22, with a call to CocoCay on July 23 rather than a day at sea before returning to Florida.
Since this private island is so close to Florida, about 185-195 miles from Port Canaveral, they were lucky enough to still be able to experience the port.
Royal Caribbean has not yet detailed what the mechanical issues are, but cruise ships are complex and these issues can occur. One of the most common problems is propulsion, where the ship is unable to sail at its optimal cruising speed.
Ocean Utopia It is a new cruise ship that will be put into operation in July 2024, so passengers hope that the problem will be completely resolved and will not affect future departures.
