The Disney World app just changed, and well, maybe it’s not for the best.

The My Disney Experience app may become your cornerstone. Here you can make dining reservations, find show and fireworks times, check wait times, and even find photos from your trip. This new twist has us questioning whether the update makes life easier or harder.
First, we notice the visual changes. The layout looks cleaner and more modern. It does look like a bunch of individual items compared to one big list.

This is how it used to be.

What’s a bit fishy is the search. Normally, you can search for rides, restaurants, characters, and more, but now…it’s a little trendy. We found that even for those who hadn’t updated the app, search didn’t work very well. For example, when we searched for “Frozen,” Mickey’s Merry Christmas Party, Disney After Hours, and Jollywood Nights all appeared after the attraction “Frozen.”

Typically, Frozen comes first, followed by a Frozen sing-along and even a meet-and-greet like Elsa, Anna and Olaf. These are probably the first items that should come up when you search for Frozen!

When we searched for “chicken tenders”, chicken guys! It comes first, which is a good choice considering their entire restaurant is based around chicken tenders, but then it starts listing other restaurants that may have chicken tenders, but usually not what you’re looking for. With places like Cosmic Ray and Columbia Harbor Towers or other in-park locations popping up, this might be just what you’re looking for.

We searched again and this time there were only Disney Springs hotels! Weird!

Hopefully Disney updates the search again so we can find things more easily, but in the meantime, make sure you stay tuned to AllEars for all the tips and tricks you need to know before embarking on your trip to Disney World.
