Cathay Pacific resumes Seattle-Tacoma flights

It’s nice when things that have fallen apart fall back into place.

To this day, all but one international airline has stopped flying from here. Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA) has resumed service during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The only persistence: Cathay Pacific.

The Hong Kong-based airline halted flights between Seattle and Hong Kong in March 2020, but resumed service almost exactly six years later.

The first flight of the relaunched flights kicked off with the arrival of a Cathay Pacific A350 in Southeast Asia, painted in Cathay Pacific’s classic “lettuce leave sandwich” livery.

The arrival of the flight was welcomed at the gate with a water cannon salute, lion dance, snacks and a ribbon-cutting ceremony.

Cathay Pacific now operates flights to and from Southeast Asia and Hong Kong International Airport (HKG) operates year-round, five times a week, on a 250-seat Airbus A350-900 aircraft, including 38 business class seats, 28 premium economy seats and 214 economy class seats.

The StuckatTheAirport.com airline review team is planning to return to Hong Kong soon.
