GLOBUS brand family lighthouse project expands with new Trees4TRAVEL partnership

Littleton, Colorado – September 7, 2021 – In April, the Globus family of brands launched lighthouse project: An inspiring initiative to help travelers come together to reduce our footprint and give generously for the greater good of the planet. Focusing on becoming more grounded in its mission of creating a culture of care and sustainability, Lighthouse Project has launched a new partnership with Trees4Travel.

As part of a new Trees4Travel partnership, Avalon Waterways will offset the carbon footprint of every guest’s cruise experience in 2022 by donating tens of thousands of trees to Trees4Travel. With this initiative, the company is focusing on “Planet” – one of the three (3) important pillars that represent the Lighthouse Project.

The Globus brand series Lighthouse Project focuses on three feedback categories:

  • planet: The Globus family of brands makes every effort to protect and protect in every destination visited. Protect waterways and wildlife, and follow organizations doing the same.
  • people: The Globus family of brands is dedicated to protecting, respecting and supporting the world’s extraordinary communities and improving the lives of the individuals within them. A measure of success? – We saw megawatt smiles along the way.
  • Place: The parks, palaces, museums and monuments we admire today are the result of previous generations’ zealous efforts to preserve them. The Globus brand family aims to pass it on through the Lighthouse project so that future generations can enjoy the same glorious place of relaxation, restoration and reflection.

“The goal of our Lighthouse Project is to light a path to a better tomorrow. Our new partnership with Trees4Travel does exactly that,” said Scott Nisbet, president and CEO of the Globus Family of Brands. “For the greater global good, we are shining a light on the need and opportunity to offset travel’s carbon emissions by donating trees planted on behalf of every Avalon Waterways guest in 2022. We also invite all travelers to get involved.”

In addition to donating trees to automatically offset the cost of all Avalon Waterways cruises, those traveling with Globus, Cosmos or Monograms will have the opportunity to quickly, easily and effectively offset the cost of their flights and vacations through Trees4Travel via the URL provided on each brand webpage. The Globus family of brands also works with the nonprofit to offset the impact of office facility emissions and employee travel.

According to Trees4Travel, the first 10 years of each tree’s life will complement travel, while the next 140 years of each tree’s life will only benefit the planet.

“It’s important to us to explore and experience our amazing world in thoughtful ways through travel,” said Nico Nicholas, founder of Trees4Travel. “We’re partnering with the Globus family of brands and their guests to plant trees for travel, helping travelers do their part to create and maintain forests that remove carbon dioxide from the air while restoring ecosystems. It’s a simple yet powerful action that will help reverse climate change and create a safe, sustainable planet for future generations.”

And, as the Globus family of brands collaborates with Trees4Travel on offset efforts, the company is also committed to creating an environmentally friendly culture around the world.

“With our Lighthouse project, Avalon is charting an ambitious course to become zero-emission and sustainable in every aspect of its cruises,” said Nisbet. “Our fleet of state-of-the-art suites and top-of-the-line technology limit energy, consumption and emissions. Additionally, Avalon’s waste and recycling programs reduce our environmental footprint. This is just the beginning. We aim to have the first all-electric river cruise ship by 2027.”
