SANTA MONICA, Calif. — Hyatt Centric Delfina Santa Monica has announced the completion of a $16 million renovation. The project, which begins in 2024 and wraps up this fall, introduces a new design aesthetic to all 315 guest rooms, 15,000 square feet of meeting space and a new all-day dining restaurant.
The extensive redesign by Waldrop + Nichols Studio features a coastal-inspired color combination that captures Santa Monica’s coastal chic.
The hotel operates under the Hyatt Centric brand, emphasizing its walkable location and access to the broader West Los Angeles business and leisure market
Updated meeting space
The renovation of the Hyatt Centric Santa Monica Delphina Hotel includes 11 event spaces, including the 4,526-square-foot Delphina Ballroom (Santa Monica’s only rooftop ballroom) with panoramic views of the Pacific Ocean and Santa Monica Mountains. The penthouse space can host up to 400 guests and can be configured to host a variety of professional events, from theater-style presentations (400 people) to a classroom setting (270 people).
The hotel also debuts the Sandbox, a 500-square-foot game room-style venue on the mezzanine with darts, shuffleboard, games, workstations and a bar. Receptions can accommodate up to 120 guests in a sandbox style setting or 50 guests in a theater style setting.
Coastal Harvest Bar and Kitchen Opens
Coastal Harvest Bar & Kitchen, an all-day dining restaurant welcoming hotel guests and the broader Santa Monica community, debuts as part of the renovation. Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, the restaurant features California-inspired cuisine using locally sourced, sustainable ingredients. The lounge on Pico Boulevard offers handcrafted cocktails, wine and craft beer.
Project details
The hotel’s redesigned design draws directly on the local location: gentle curves are inspired by the waves, while the color palette echoes the sand and sunsets. Maritime-inspired materials and modern furnishings throughout the hotel also draw inspiration from the region.
The renovation also introduced seven unique Sunset Suites, each with a private ocean-view balcony with a whirlpool hot tub. Designed to blend Santa Monica’s beach aesthetic with contemporary color palettes, all 315 redesigned guest rooms offer contemporary décor and private balconies with ocean, mountain, city or pool views.
“This transformation demonstrates our commitment to creating spaces where guests can not only stay, but also connect, recharge and find inspiration,” said Shawn Holliday, general manager of Hyatt Regency Delfina Santa Monica. “From busy executives seeking a refreshed oceanfront retreat to couples celebrating life milestones against our iconic coastal backdrop, every element has been thoughtfully designed to deliver an experience that is both meaningful and memorable. The completion of this renovation solidifies our position as Santa Monica’s premier destination for those seeking true California spirit in the center of the action.”
The Hyatt Centric Delfina Santa Monica is within walking distance of the Santa Monica Pier and Beach, downtown dining on the Third Street Promenade or Ocean Drive, and the technology corridor of Silicon Valley Beach. The hotel features a heated saltwater pool, fitness center, complimentary beach cruiser bikes and a host of amenities to cater to both leisure travelers and corporate groups.
