Sandals Resorts International (SRI) has announced a $200 million restoration of three resorts in Jamaica. Sandals Resorts International reopened five of its eight hotels in Jamaica in December following Hurricane Melissa last fall, with Sandals Montego Bay, Sandals Royal Caribbean and Sandals South Coast remaining closed for evaluation.
Adam Stewart, executive chairman of Sandals Resorts International, found a silver lining in the closure. “After we closed, we were given something that was almost never available in the hospitality industry, a true blank canvas, and that sense of clarity changed everything,” he said. “We spent time walking around the hotel, talking to our teams and thinking about our guests. At a critical moment, it became clear to us: We shouldn’t simply restore everything that was there. We should dream bigger. When we welcome guests back, they will see that transformation, and they will understand why we chose to use this moment to create something worthy of their loyalty.”
The company seized the opportunity and completely renovated the three resorts, which will reopen at the end of 2026. Sandals South Coast at the White House will reopen on November 18, 2026. In addition, Sandals Royal Caribbean and Sandals Montego Bay will reopen on December 18, 2026.
The resort’s redesign will bring dramatic new arrival moments. The resort will overlook the Caribbean Sea and will have new accommodation categories. There will also be a redesign of the swimming pool, refreshed lounges and social spaces. However, Sandals remains true to its roots and will retain the resort’s sense of place and unmistakable spirit.
Guests who want to travel to Jamaica to stay at a Sandals resort prior to reopening can choose from Sandals Royal Plantation, Sandals Ochi, Sandals Dunn’s River, Sandals Negril and Beaches Negril.
