Six partners support in-app travel bookings
TikTok is moving further into social commerce with GO, a feature that turns travel inspiration into purchases. Currently only available in the United States, bookable accommodations and experiences can be accessed without leaving the app. The interface displays description, availability and price before payment in just a few steps. Six partners have joined at launch: Booking.comExpedia, Viator, GetYourGuide, Tiqets and ctrip.com. The app says users 18 and older can pre-order, and creators can monetize the sales they generate.
GO aims to be present where inspiration happens – video feeds, in-app search engines and places pages. Users who discover a hotel or event can view terms, check live inventory and complete the transaction within the app. This setup extends the logic of TikTok Shop, this time applying it to travel services. For local businesses and partner platforms, the appeal is the ability to reach a large, engaged audience immediately and increase conversion rates via a shorter path.
The goal is to bring discovery and booking more closely together in the same ecosystem. TikTok is emphasizing the role of creators, whose content can now be linked to commercial inventory and get paid through commissions. For major online travel players, the opportunity lies in the current desire format to reach qualified audiences. Another aspect is the risk of increased dependency by sharing (or even entrusting) customer relationship and transaction data to social platforms.
“We’re excited to partner with TikTok to turn those ‘I wish I was there’ moments into authentic TikTok GO stays. Booking.com Directly into the TikTok journey, travelers can go from discovering their dream accommodation in a video to securing a stay with just a few taps, making it easier than ever to turn inspiration into unforgettable experiences. ” — Mark van der Linden, VP of Partnerships at Booking.com
European rollout faces thorny issues
August 2025, Booking.com starts Testing hotel sales on TikTok About 10% of US users, without them leaving the app. Other initiatives — from Expedia on Instagram to commerce bridges on various platforms — have tried to shorten the path from inspiration to purchase, with mixed results.
To launch in Europe, the feature must comply with the Digital Markets Act (DMA). Starting in September 2023, ByteDance/TikTok will be designated as the “gatekeeper” of social networks. recently challenged status submitted to the Court of Justice of the European Union. Booking.com itself is governed by the DMA Serve its platform. Requirements for interoperability, transparency and non-discrimination may impact how integrations work.
