Vintage aviation museum plans to relocate Saab Draken fighter

A Saab Draken fighter aircraft in Chino, California, to be shipped by road to Spanish Fork, Utah Vintage Aviation Museumfunds are needed to pay for professional shipping. Once in Utah, the aircraft will be housed at the museum and open to the public. The Saab Draken is a Cold War-era jet aircraft that served with several European air forces. The aircraft is known for its twin delta wing design. Moving an aircraft requires professional transportation. Work includes partial disassembly, loading by experienced personnel, oversize cargo permit, escort vehicle, insurance and offloading at destination. This indicates a higher cost, expected to be between $30,000 and $40,000. The timeline depends on the availability of qualified contractors to transport an aircraft of this size. If the relocation cannot be arranged within the current time frame, the aircraft may not be relocated as planned.

To help defray costs, the Vintage Aviation Museum is accepting donations from the public. There are several levels of donor recognition. Donors of $25 will be listed as a supporter. Donors of $100 will receive a digital photographic record of the move. The names of $500 donors will be displayed near the aircraft. Those who donate $1,000 will be invited to a private viewing once the plane arrives in Utah. The immediate goal is to complete the move and secure the aircraft in its new location.
