You may ask, what is Dorkfest? This is by our friend Brett Snyder (aka grumpy flyer), a group of AvGeeks gathered at the In-N-Out restaurant at LAX to watch the planes, grab some food, win airport/airline giveaways, and hang out with a great crowd. Sound interesting? The following is deet:

Registration is not required for the main event, but pre-registration is required if you would like to enter a drawing to win exciting aviation-themed prizes or a ramp tour at LAX. To learn more about Dorkfest or to sign up for additional events (RSVP is not open as of publication), head to Doc’s Day Home Page.

But wait…there’s more! If you’re planning on attending Dorkfest in Los Angeles, you should also consider attending #SpotLAX2026! This is another great aviation event, held on the rooftop of the H Hotel in Los Angeles, overlooking LAX. The following is deet:
- What: #SpotLAX2026
- When: Friday, September 18, 4 to 9 p.m.
- Where: H Hotel Los Angeles H overlooking
- Cost: US$25 per person (tickets are expected to go on sale on July 18)

There will be some great giveaways as well as food and drinks available for purchase. Tickets go on sale July 18th, so be sure to mark your calendars. To find out more and get H Hotel discounts, go to #SpotLAX2026 Page.

I’ve attended it many times and although the airplanes are great, I really think what makes these events special is the people! I plan on going there again this year, so if you see me be sure to say hi and we can chat about airplanes for a while.
