Wizz Air targets Croatia

Wizz Air airport development manager Salome Khundadze noted that the airline’s presence in Croatia remains relatively limited but sees significant opportunities for expansion and market positioning. She added that Wizz Air was experiencing strong growth and had ambitious fleet expansion plans. The airline currently has a fleet of over 250 aircraft and is looking to further expand its network and is considering launching additional routes from Zadar as early as next season.

When EX-YU Aviation News was asked if it was considering returning to Zagreb after an absence of more than a decade, Wizz Air declined to comment directly on the possibility, saying: “We are constantly evaluating opportunities. This region, and EX-YU Aviation Space in particular, has always been very close to the heart of Wizz Air. We are always evaluating this opportunity and similar opportunities”.

This summer, Wizz Air will launch 10 new routes to Croatia, all serving coastal destinations. These include new flights to Dubrovnik from Cluj-Napoca, Gdansk, Budapest, Bucharest and Katowice, new flights to Zadar from Budapest and Warsaw, and new flights to Rijeka from Katowice, Gdansk and Lublin. The addition marks the airline’s debut in Zadar and Rijeka. Wizz Air’s entire Croatian network remains seasonal.
