The Walt Disney Family Museum Announces “Foley of Animation” Campaign
Get behind the mic with award-winning Skywalker sound foley artist Shelley Roden at the Walt Disney Family Museum!
Roden, whose storied career spans more than 200 movies, TV shows and games, will share her insider expertise in the art of creating everyday sound effects known as “foley.” Attendees will also participate in interactive audience demonstrations to learn first-hand how animated scenes are brought to life through the magic of sound.
Based in Northern California, Shelley Roden is an award-winning Foley artist at Skywalker Sound with an impressive body of work spanning over 200 live-action films, animated films, TV series, and video games. Her recent list of incredible projects includes projects for Disney and Pixar toy story 5 and Hoppers20th century studio Avatar: Fire and AshesMarvel TV series magic manand Lucasfilm’s Andor.
Roden is passionate about mentoring the next generation of sound creators and regularly conducts interactive workshops for students and the public. She has brought her expertise to institutions around the world, including Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD), Drexel University, Ithaca College, and Sonic College of Denmark. She also visits annually to the Strong Museum of Play in her hometown of Rochester, New York, and to Virginia Commonwealth University, where she serves as an affiliated faculty member in the Department of Kinetic Imaging. She’s currently turning her decades of industry insight into a new book, featuring exclusive interviews with her fellow foley artists.
