Experience Twist & Splash at Bingeman’s Big Splash. Say it five times fast.
Located in Kitchener, Ontario, Bingeman’s is a multi-faceted family destination offering experiences ranging from camping and mini golf to indoor soft play areas and Boston pizza. Their crown jewel, though, is Big Splash, a small water park with a wave pool at the top and a rainbow of colorful slides below. Their latest product is the Typhoon Twister, a series of body slides designed by Canada’s own Proslide Technology.
The week before, we attended the hotel’s grand opening, with a ceremonious ribbon-cutting ceremony for the first 300 guests, complete with plastic branded sunglasses. An unseasonably cold June put a damper on the day and the following weeks, but Ontario’s hot summer weather is finally here and we’re now well into water park season.
The attraction’s design was customized specifically for the park. The eye-catching colors complement the rainbow-hued fiberglass slopes far better than the old pair of drab tube slides or the empty lot left after they were decommissioned a few seasons ago. Bingaman also hosts regular day camps and school groups, for whom the new slide is not only attractive but also allows for more efficient absorption of its four different flumes.
Spliced between the spirals of the two green lanes are multiple rally points where guests can briefly see each other and engage in effective duels. Racing water slides have become a huge trend in recent years, with more zany and creative layouts being used in the name of competition.
The blue slide features a pair of scaled-down flying saucers on which skaters spin rapidly on a pair of disks, more like slalom turns. Riders are able to get plenty of speed with this layout, it might be a little too fast for heavier guests.
My personal favorite, though, is probably the yellow sink, which feels quite long and even has a few spirals, which gives it a strong feel. There are some cool daylight effects and stars towards the end, a feature that always adds fun to any waterslide!
Other attractions at Bingeman’s include the blink-and-you’ll-miss-it Full Throttle pad racer, the popular high-speed Torpedo Bay and Cyclone body slides, and Boomerango. Typhoon Twister is a select addition to the lineup that niche water park enthusiasts are sure to have fun with.
Bingeman continues to stake its claim as a premier destination for families in the Kitchener-Waterloo region. Most importantly, it is committed to serving the local community, whether they are day camps for children, adults looking for a fun night of bowling, or weekend getaways. I think this is probably the biggest buzz a water park can make.
