Elora Quarry Just 1.5 hours outside of Toronto, Elora Quarry is located in Elora, Ontario, a charming town known for its limestone buildings, riverside views, incredible restaurants, beautiful hikes, and more. This is a nature lover’s paradise! We visited Ellora this summer 2024 all-electric Subaru Solterra and discovered that the Ellora quarry was there. Since Ellora Quarry is a protected area, it is important to be mindful of the environment. We love how Ellora Quarry promotes leaving no trace on their website and on site. The fact that there are many sustainability initiatives in Ellora in many local businesses and in the town itself is important to us. In fact, we drove to Ellora 2024 all-electric Subaru Solterra Because they have over 20 electric car charging stations in this town (more info below!).

Visit Elora, Ontario
Before heading to Ellora Quarry, you need to know the best way to get there and get around! Driving is the best way to see everything Elora has to offer, and most visitors drive to the Elora Quarry.
We took a test drive Subaru Saltera Two-tone smoked carbon luxury packaging. This is the perfect itinerary for your Ellora road trip. Firstly, because there are many electric vehicle (EV) charging stations near Ellora. Although we didn’t need to charge the Solterra when we got home, we still did it at the end of the trip due to the long-lasting nature of electric car batteries. It’s an easy, seamless, and fast process! We found a Level 2 charging station that is compatible with Solterra charging cables. We also appreciate that the EV batteries in Solterra retain 90% of their battery life after 10 years, so Solterra can be with you for the long haul!
Ellora also has plenty of trails with soft terrain (from grass to gravel), so we like that the Subaru Solterra offers the same great rugged performance as non-electric Subaru SUVs. It features Subaru’s famous Symmetrical Full-Time All-Wheel Drive system for added peace of mind and enjoyment on country roads. There’s also 210mm of ground clearance for extra space during Ellora’s snowy winters!
We really appreciated that the Subaru Solterra was very roomy and fit all the overnight gear for our Ellora trip with plenty of room to spare! In fact, it has a unique cargo feature: the deck can be lowered to increase the cargo volume from 784L to 820L, which is helpful for storing tall objects. The Subaru Solterra is the perfect size for growing families, people traveling with pets, and anyone who likes extra space for luggage and large outdoor gear!
We were impressed with the Solterra Luxury package, which offered all the upgrades to make our road trip even more comfortable. Some of our favorites include:

- 12.3 inch touch screen infotainment screen with support for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto which is very useful for GPS at our different Ellora stations

To explore downtown Ellora, walk or cycle to reduce CO2 emissions. The town is small enough to explore on foot, and there are plenty of bike racks in downtown Elora to safely park your bike.
Things to know before visiting Ellora Quarry
Visiting Ellora Quarry requires some planning. You’ll need to buy your tickets and parking pass before arriving, so plan ahead and Book your tickets here. There is a hiking trail surrounding the quarry, as well as an on-site beach area that requires a short hike, so bring comfortable walking shoes and a backpack with beach gear!
Since Ellora Quarry is a protected area, you should be careful not to leave any traces. There are bins on site, or better yet, pack a zero-waste lunch as there are no food vendors on site.
Please note that there are security guards around Ellora Quarry to manage visitors as there are strict rules not to get too close to the cliff edge for safety reasons.
Attractions near Ellora Quarry
Fieldstone Farm. Pick your own sunflowers and visit their alpacas (one of them is a rescue!). fieldstone farm It’s a great way to immerse yourself in nature, pick some sunflowers, and shop at markets that support local artists and sell local produce like honey and fresh produce.
Ellora Mill Spa. Incredible at the Ellora Mill Hotel Ellora Mill Spa It features a rooftop, year-round heated outdoor pool and hot tub. Enjoy a treatment at the spa, then grab a seat by the pool and enjoy a delicious drink while relaxing and breathing in the fresh air.
Ellora Sanctuary. Detour on foot protected areaswim in the quarry or raft down Elora Gorge. The reserve is only open from May 1st to October 15th.
go for a drive Drive along the lanes through picturesque countryside. look at the famous monteros kissing bridgeone of the last remaining covered bridges in Ontario.
Check elora city center. Visit the quaint and charming town for some shopping or a bite to eat. There are lots of cute boutiques and restaurants/cafés to visit. We love checking out all the eco-friendly products Mrs. Greenaway.
Where to eat near Ellora Quarry
Lost and Found Cafe. Hidden within the Ellora stables, lost and found is a locally owned cafe with a variety of vegetarian and vegan options. Many of their menu items are made from scratch, including homemade tofu bacon and many of their drink syrups!
It’s okay Eric. A casual and fun cafe where you can enjoy fresh bowls and burritos with homemade sauces and dressings. They have many gluten-free and vegetarian options on their menu. Nothing’s wrong Eric Also serving the most delicious fair trade organic coffee.
Accommodation near Ellora Quarry

Visit the on-site spa and dine at the incredible restaurant before exploring the town and Ellora quarries. Don’t forget to charge your electric car at one of the on-site charging stations!
